RDASW & Local Indigenous Artist Partnership
For those of you who attended the SEGRA or RDA National Forum event, you might have seen our Team and Board wearing our new shirts, received one of the beautiful water bottles at the registration desk or a lanyard at the RDA National Forum.
The artwork is a custom design created by local Indigenous artist Melissa Riley and is titled 'Mandjar Dandjoo' which means 'Meeting Together'. After meeting with Melissa earlier this year, she was able to work with us to craft something truly unique to RDA, capturing our purpose, regional landscape and colour palette. Supporting local artists is very important to us and you will see us wearing our shirts proudly around the South West.
Melissa Riley is an accomplished artist descended from the Wardandi, Wadjuk and Wagl Keip Noongar people of Western Australia. Raised in a strong Noongar household, Melissa is very proud of her heritage and gathers inner strength from the knowledge passed down from her parents, from their ancestors. Melissa has deep connections with culture and land.
